Well ladies…..it’s March 3rd and we are officially in the month of the Kentucky Northern! Johnnie will be competing among a hundred women and KITF and it’s members will be there cheering her on and hoping that she places/wins!!!! After-all, she has been working so hard and sticking to her diet plan really well. We will be posting more pics soon! I have been following a high protein/low carb diet for about 4 months now (excluding 2 mini cheat days and 1 major cheat day on my birthday) and let me just tell you…..it’s tough. You get tired of the food choices and your body starts to REALLY crave sugar and fat. At several points during this process I have literally felt like I am shutting down. I get moody, emotional, and I feel so hungry for sugar. The only sugar I have been ingesting is Better Than Peanut Butter which has only 2 grams of sugar per 2 tablespoons. I have recently cut that way down to 1-2 days a week so I can fill those calories with more protein. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT!!
The thing about all of this is, that I made a commitment to see this through and when I commit to something I don’t go back on my word. I told Johnnie I would go on a revised diet so that I could support her but I also set a personal goal to get my body fat down between 12 & 13% and increase my muscle definition. Trust me, I have wanted to just stop all of this insanity and go back to my 1 day per week cheat day with my nutrition, which is my usual rule of thumb. My body fat has gone from 15.48% to 13.72% in 4 months. I have to really be careful not to drop my calories too low or I start to loose muscle. I am struggling with that right now so therefore I am upping my protein and calories this week and trying to lift more. We shall see! I can loose 1-2% in 3 weeks right! Sometimes easier said than done. I am having some major cravings! (Jets pizza:) Those 3 cheat days don’t last any further than the moment you are swallowing the food and then it’s over! The next day I still feel deprivation so why did I even bother?
Poor Johnnie has been a trooper and has not had any cheat days since Thanksgiving/Christmas! Her body fat is down to 11.2%!! She is going crazy but hangs onto the fact that March 27th is right around the corner! We are all helping to keep her focused and positive so she can kick butt and place/WIN at the competition! Go Johnnie!!!
And the first thing we are both having after she steps off that stage, is pizza!! (And after that…probably something chocolate!)
